Official opening of the Glion Dining club

logo Glion dining clubFor the launch of the Glion Dining Club, Glion London students, members of staff and alumni gathered together on January 27, 2016 at the Langham Hotel.

The event was graced by none other than the club’s patron Mr. Albert Roux, OBE and Legion d’Honneur, and Mr. Bob van den Oord, Managing Director of the Langham.

Speeches on the theme of ‘Nurturing Young Talent in the Industry’ were followed by an exquisite lunch at the elegant, fine dining restaurant Roux at The Landau, in The Langham, London.

The weather in London may have been bleak and dreary, but the atmosphere inside the Postillion Room of the iconic Langham Hotel was warm and cheery as students, staff and alumni gathered for the first Glion London Dining Club meeting.

Guests mingled with glasses of champagne and canapés, and they were honored by the esteemed company of Mr. Albert Roux, OBE and Legion d’Honneur, patron of the Glion London Dining Club and Mr. Bob van den Oord, Managing Director of the Langham Hotel.

Speeches centered on the theme ‘Nurturing Young Talent in the Industry’ highlighted the importance of hospitality education, placing special emphasis on a need for the support of student-led initiatives such as the Glion London Dining Club, and oenology club, The Glion London Wine Club.

Guests then made their way to The Roux at The Landau for a sublime three course lunch in the presence of Mr. Albert Roux himself.

Complete with amuse-bouche and petit four, the meal was accompanied with matching wines and great company, leaving everyone unwilling and unable to move from their seats after.

People say one  should begin a new year with a bang, and there couldn’t have been a bigger and better start to 2016 for Glion London, than with an incredible meal; marking the first of many more memorable meals for the Dining Club in the months and years to come.

This milestone marks the beginning of a journey and the first step in fulfilling the club’s mission to expose food-loving Glioners to all the culinary wonders that London has to offer.
