I’m glad to join the Glion Alumni bloggers and I’ll start by sharing a bit about myself.
I’m an innovative, resourceful and enthusiastic international hospitality professional with executive management experience in three, four, and five star properties. In the past, I held senior management roles in internationally flagged, as well as independently owned and operated, hotels in Europe and the Middle East and have worked for operators such as Accor, Wyndham, Thistle, and the Bonnington Group.
I started my Glion Online MBA in International Hospitality and Service Industries Management in January 2011, selecting the “Marketing & Innovation” pathway with a view to changing career paths and becoming a freelance hospitality consultant and board-level advisor to hospitality companies in the Middle East and South East Asia.
I’m highly creative, passionate about communication, new media and the interactive world. I am interested in many things and understand an eclectic mix of business, science, and art. I know people and how to communicate with them, but I also know how to make organizations work and extract the best profits for their many stakeholders.
In May 2011, I opened Iconsulthotels FZE, an ultra-boutique consulting firm based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which specializes in assisting small & medium hospitality companies and international hospitality professionals to achieve their business goals through innovative use of (online) PR, social media and customized CRM strategies.
I live in Dubai with my wife and my two year old son and when I’m not busy with work or my MBA, I try to make the most of the year-round sunshine and the many beaches in the area.
My dream is to become a Chief Innovation Officer for an international hospitality company once I’ve completed my MBA next year.
I’m a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a member of Skål International. I am also very well networked, a frequent speaker at hotel and customer service conferences and events, and a regular contributor to industry websites and publications such as eHotelier.com and Hotelier Middle East.
